Sadly, although Portfolio v8 is able to write Adobe Bridge Rating and Label XMP tags back to TIF/JPG files, this can't actually be done due to a bug in the application's configuration file. Whilst this problem can be fixed by editing the file in question, which is an XML 'plist' file, the result is only effective in any new catalogues created after the correction is made. There is no know fix for already created files. As such, if you need support for round-tripping these tags then you should apply the fix offered below and make new versions of your existing catalogues (i.e. customised the same way) and then drag existing records from old to new. Note too, that screen previews have to be recreated. Still, it's better than no fix at all.
As the file in question is not easy to find and many users may not feel confident editing XML files, the FAQ has done his for you. Two ZIP archives are offered, one each for Mac and Windows, and each contains English/German/French/Japanese versions of the corrected file with a text file giving instructions (English only - sorry!) on how to install the replacement file. Do back up any existing files you replace and use the supplied files at your own risk.
