EPS thumbnail generation failure - side effects

Sometimes (under Windows) when adding EPS files, especially if there is no preview, Portfolio may fail to create a preview and just display an EPS icon. Two possible side effects occur:

• The EPS file(s) becomes locked. You must re-boot the OS to clear this error. The reason this occurs is not clear.
• The record subsequently refuses to generate a thumbnail, even extract an embedded one. Your only option is to delete the original record completely and re-archive.

These problems tend to happen if a large number of images are added at once, especially on a lowered powered system and with large individual file sizes as the system begins to run out of memory. If this occurs add the files (or certainly the EPSs in small batches or individually).
