Mac (OS9/X) clients don't read image metadata (width, res, etc.)

This is a Mac only problem and occurs if the client is set to extract existing thumbnails (in Advanced Cataloging Options). In such a situation only the OS data like paths, file size, file name, etc., are read into the record.

To retrieve data like the colour mode, resolution and height/width you must select the option to create thumbnails when cataloguing - not exactly something you'd guess at.

If you've already created a catalogue in the 'extract' mode, then alter the setting, select all records and then Item/Regenerate Thumbnails. Although this will effectively re-catalogue everything in image terms (time!) it won't destroy any custom data you have already added.
