Is there an SDK so I can make plug-ins for my xxx format files?

There is no publicly available SDK but Portfolio's structure does allow for 'plug-in' filters to allow thumbnailing & data extraction from non-supported formats, i.e. such plug-ins could be created.

If you need this sort of functionality you should make direct contact with Extensis and explain your needs to them.
