Can Browser be used to access shared Catalogues?

Yes, but there is a potential problem. Browser is designed for single user access only. Accessing a file-shared, i.e. non-Served, Catalogue will lock out all other users until the Browser-based user finishes using the Catalogue. The status of Browser use with served Catalogues is less clear but is likely to be the same.

Planning you system with Browser as a low (no!) cost element for extra users is not a tenable proposition, the those people need shared access to Catalogue files. Browser is really intended to provide (external) users with a 'viewer' program so that without Portfolio they can access your Portfolio Catalogues and display the images & information.

Browser also works running from CD, allowing Catalogues - with or without originals - to be distributed on CD complete with a viewer.
