Does closing all a Catalogue's Galleries close the Catalogue?

No - if you have the 'Keep Catalog Open' option set.

To do this, open the Catalogs palette and click your catalogue's entry so it has focus. Now click the pop-up menu (arrow button top right of palette). From the menu click 'Keep Catalog Open' so that is it ticked. You can check the option is working by closing all the catalogue's open galleries. The gallery count on the palette should fall to zero but your catalogue should still be visible in the list of current - i.e. open - catalogues.
