In v6 a new build-in field was added, called 'Directory Path'. This holds the path to the record's target file, down to the folder that holds the file. It is terminated with a folder delimiter (: or \). In other words it is the 'Path' minus the filename.
When scripting a change to the 'Path' field the 'Directory Path' should also be updated as should the 'Volume' field (if that part of the path has changed) in order to keep record data correct.
The 'ChangePath' (Win) and 'Edit Path' (Mac) scripts that are installed by the v6.01 and later clients update the 'Path' and 'Directory Path' fields but not the 'Volume' field.
