This dialog is called from the View menu or the Gallery menu. There are four tabs on the dialog; three describe each of the three Gallery views and the last tab covers general Gallery level options. The dialog opens showing the details for the active Gallery's current view, but settings for all 3 views and the Gallery can be set whilst the dialog is open.
Current Font frame ('Type' on Mac OS):
The 'Font' button calls a standard Windows Font dialog. Use this to set the font type, style and size - but not the colour; the text colour is set in the 'Text Color' box in the lower left panel. The name of the font selected is shown above the 'Font' button. On the Mac OS, there are separate setting controls for Font (name), Size and Style. Font details saved in Saved Views or PVW files store Font details by OS and so access to Portfolio on both OSs is needed to customise the font in Galleries intended for cross-platform use.
Thumbnail frame:
Size. Choose from four display sizes; 32 x 32, 64 x 64, 112 x 112, or 256 x 256 pixels. Note that Portfolio can't display thumbnails that are larger than the ones you generated when you first catalogued your files. By default, Portfolio generates thumbnails that are 112 x 112 pixels, so if you want to display 256 x 256 thumbnails in your Catalogues, you must set the Thumbnail size to the higher setting in the Advanced Cataloging Options dialog before items are catalogued, as explained earlier in the previous chapter. Alternatively, to generate larger thumbnails for items already catalogued, set the Advanced Cataloging Options the way you want, then choose Item > Regenerate Thumbnail to force Portfolio to build new thumbnails.
Border. In Thumbnail or Record view you can add a graphic Border to each thumbnail. To apply a Border select a saved Border from the drop-down list or choose 'Edit' to open the Borders dialog to enable you to add or edit Borders. (See also manual pages 39-40). Borders are not included when a Thumbnail view is exported as a web page or PortWeb template.
Spacing. This sets the amount of grid spacing in pixels between thumbnails. Allowable values are from 0-99 giving a tighter or looser grid. Grid spacing is not replicated when a Thumbnail view is exported as a web page or PortWeb template.
Background Color. Choose from a preset colour or choose edit to open a standard OS colour picker dialog. Colour details saved in Saved Views or PVW files store colour details by OS and so access to Portfolio on both OSs is needed to customise the font in Galleries intended for cross-platform use.
Text Color. Choose from a preset colour or choose edit to open a standard OS colour picker dialog.
Field list. All Fields that can be displayed, built-in or Custom, are shown in this list. To display a Field, tick the box next to it. The order in which Fields are displayed can be altered. Click-drag Fields to alter their order in the list into the order you wish to see them displayed on screen.

Display as List. When not selected (default), Record view displays one Record at a time. Ticking this option turns the view into a single scrolling list.
Show Field Names. On by default, this setting controls whether the names of Fields are displayed with the Field data or just the data alone.
Edit Selecting this option allows you to edit Field data directly from the Record View. Note - not all Fields can be edited.
Find Gallery frame.
Load Saved Find when Opened. When selected, you can select a saved Find to be run when the Gallery opens. This can be used to ensure the Gallery contents is always correct despite the addition and deletion of Records.
Sorting frame.
Keep Gallery Sorted. If selected, the Gallery is automatically sorted based on the Field selected from the drop-down list. Optionally, the sort order can be set to ascending or descending. If no Field is set, the default sort order is by the 'Cataloged' Field data in ascending order.
Gallery frame.
Open at Startup. When set, the Gallery is automatically opened when the Catalogue is opened.
