Why is the Catalogue Administration menu greyed out?

Depending on the access level you log on with, certain options are unavailable. To access the Catalog Administration dialog, e.g. to create custom fields, you must be logged in as Administrator. To do so means that all other users must be logged off. You will not be able to log on as Administrator whilst a Catalogue is served either via PortWeb or Server/SQLConnect.

To minimise downtime for users, you should consider making admin changes on a copy of the database then quickly unserving it and overwriting to original. This method is not suggested where others than the Administrator are adding to the information in the Catalogue, lest their changes between taking the copy and replacing the original are lost.
