This FAQ does not intend to duplicate all the information in the manual but rather the things that it either describes incorrectly or does not explain at all. If you question isn't answered here, make sure you've checked the manual!
Much as we expect everything to be wildly intuitive, some things aren't obvious. Portfolio's manual has a lot of information and a pretty good index. If you don't have your paper copy to hand, a PDF version can be downloaded. For those wanting a slimmer document at start, there is a PDF of the Quick Start Guide which effectively walks you round the sample catalogue (on your CD or download) in Reader access mode. That is it lists what things do, but gives less indication as to why (it assumes you know!).
Version 8 saw the welcome return of HTML help although the topics aren't hot-linked from app dialogs. Still, especially on the PC, it beats opening up Acrobat just to read the help. As you move out to things like scripting and the NetPublish API, the help is thinner and not always up to date. The FAQ remains the only real reference for scripting information.
Question: My question isn't answered here - or - did you read the manual? [FAQ00053.htm]
