Can Categories be captured as keywords?
No, presently there appears to be no way to do this. There is a scrappy workaround, though it won't be ideal if you've a large amount of Categories and/or a complex tree structure.
Export your Categories as a '.pjd' file. You do this via the 'Export...' item on the fly out menu of the Categories palette. Now:
- Open the exported file in a plain text editor such a Notepad.
- Go through and edit out all the gaps and non-printing characters - empty boxes or solid black blobs - so that you have one Category per line. You may want to have the Categories palette visible for reference whilst doing this.
- Save the finished list as a TXT file.
- You can now use standard keywording techniques to apply items from the newly imported list to your records. Don't forget you can use the Categories palette to find all appropriate records to a Category before applying it as a keywords.
